LeoCares donates €5,000 to animal shelter

In May, our Malta-based employees participated in a vote to decide which local charity would receive their LeoCares donation.

MSPCA received the most votes and was given a €5,000 donation from LeoCares. A group of our Malta colleagues visited the MSPCA to deliver the donation and learn more about their impactful work.

MSPCA, the oldest animal shelter in Malta, has been operating since the 1900s. They focus on rehabilitating and rehoming homeless animals and educating the community about animal welfare.

In response to the donation, MSPCA shared this message:

MSPCA is the oldest animal shelter in Malta and has been dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming homeless animals since the 1900s. We educate our community of volunteers and youth to promote kindness and prevent animal cruelty through rehoming, education, advocacy, and legislation aimed at safeguarding the five animal welfare freedoms as per Malta’s Animal Welfare Act. Every year, we try to take in as many animals as possible from animal welfare and homes that can no longer support their care. This is a very costly operation to run, and we thank LeoVegas for kindly reaching out to help our animals. Your support will help with vet and clinic fees over the coming months. Thank you for supporting us and helping the homeless animals in our care. Thank you for making such a difference to this cause!”

The donation was presented by Ernest Mercieca Blake, EB & Office Lead (Commercial & Operations), alongside Malta Office team members Gabriella Davies and Antonella Delceppo. Ernest shared his thoughts on the donation:

The love and care for animals continues to grow with #TeamLeo. We look forward to more opportunities to support organizations within our local community.”

Ernest Mercieca Blake, Gabriella Davies and Antonella Delceppo presented the donation to MSPCA.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the LeoCares Malta vote!
